Caprolactam is produced by Synthetic Biotechnology. It was first identified as a synthetic amino acid that was highly effective in the synthesis of nylon. Caprolactam has high solubility, a high affinity for water, and a remarkable ability to withstand high temperatures. It was also found to possess many medicinal qualities and is extensively used in pharmaceutical industries for the treatment of inflammation, rheumatism, gout, hepatitis, neurodegenerative disorders, eczema, skin disorders, cholesterol synthesis, and drug synthesis. There are many cosmetic uses for Caprolactam.
