Rigid Packaging; Ideal Packaging Solution to Keep the Goods Safe for a Long Time

Rigid packaging is ideal for protecting products during transportation as it helps to keep the product safe for a longer period of time. This type of packaging offers structure and support for products and is known for its strength. Examples of rigid packaging materials include glass jars, aluminum cans, plastic bottles and boxes, and corrugated and paperboard boxes. Rigid packaging is made from denser and thicker materials and provides better protection against heat and other barriers when compared to the other ones.

It is important to understand that most of today's packaging systems are quite similar. However, due to the considerable differences in material, sizes, shapes, and colors, companies can now offer their customers very compelling alternatives. For instance, rigid packaging is increasingly popular because of its strength. This type of packaging has gained widespread approval because of its design, which helps keep the product safe for a longer period. Rigid packaging products include jars, cans, bottles, aluminum bottles, aerosol containers, and ampules, among others.

As opposed to other packaging types, rigid packaging containers have unique benefits such as high barrier properties, high stiffness, and high impact strength. They are basically made into the shape of the tray, can, box, or case. Rigid packaging is done by using different materials such as wood, plastic, metal, paper, and paperboard materials. It is employed across various industries, such as chemicals, food and beverages, healthcare, electronics, and pharmaceuticals. Moreover, it helps protect goods from heat and other external factors, including moisture.

The food & beverage industry is one of the major consumers of rigid packaging products. Growing consumption of ready-to-eat and convenience food products has increased the demand for this type of packaging. For example, in June 2020, Neste and Jokey (UK), a manufacturer of rigid plastic packaging, collaborated to develop rigid packaging from sustainable renewable and recycled materials for food and non-food applications.
